Session 5: MUTCD Update – Part 2
Noon – 1:00 PM (Pacific)
In Session 1 of this series, we explored some of the responses to the current Notice of Proposed Amendments (NPA) for the 11th Edition of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). ITE’s response (available here) includes a call for FHWA to consider the needs of all users, to provide greater flexibility and opportunities to innovate, and encouragement to take a forward-looking posture with the Manual. The responses from other organizations reviewing the proposed changes such as NACTO have been much more adamant regarding the call to substantially reframe the MUTCD to create a safe and sustainability-first document. What does this mean to you? How might this effort lead to changes of subsequent changes to (12th Edition) MUTCD? Join our panel in exploring what a revamped version of the MUTCD could be.
